There are a few nasty little critters that can be found in your carpets. Among them are carpet beetles and black carpet beetles. These beetles don’t just live inside carpets but can also be found in clothing, furs and fabric including your sofa.

You’ll also want to know that pesky bed bugs also live inside carpet, not just mattresses as the name may suggest. These are hard to see but can multiply quickly so it’s important to have your carpet cleaned professionally if you spot these.

Dust mites are tiny pests that typically are known to cause allergies. These little critters thrive in carpets, where a female dust mite can produce around a hundred eggs!

Carpet moths come from when a moth lays its eggs in carpet and the caterpillars which hatch, then eat away at the carpet around them. Wool is their favourite material to munch on but they are also found in cotton and silk fabrics. These little critters can cause severe infestations so need to be dealt with swiftly.

Fleas are another insect that lurch in your carpets. Especially if you have pets, you’ll notice during the summer seasons this can dramatically increase their numbers. Flea powder often isn’t enough to kill all the fleas, and even if one remains, it can latch back onto your pet and breed. The droppings of a flea can sit within your carpet and cause allergies.

You can also see ants and sliverfish making their way into your carpets. These pests won’t just stop there though, they’ll be happy enough to take a trip to your kitchen and bathroom and any other area which may be moist enough for their environment or hold food.

We’ll need to know what your carpet is made from. For example: wool; nylon; polyester; olefin; polypropylene; acrylic.

All of the above have to be cleaned in a unique way to suit the fibres. Wrong cleaning methods will result in carpet damage, which is why we offer a free onsite inspection and identify all carpets before we start work.

We will also ask if you have pets and whether you have any stain marks that will need our attention. If you’re unable to have an onsite visit we do ask for you to send us a few photos which you can do via our contact form, emailing us or via your phone.

We’ll also want to know if there will be furniture in the room and whether you require help moving the furniture.

Please note we use commercial grade equipment which can be a trip hazard so we ask customers to ensure young children are kept away from where we are working and away from the equipment.

We also advise customers there will be cables and vacuum hoses around the house. We will alway work from the highest floor and work our way down and out, so the last thing we clean is the main entrance as this eliminates us having to re-clean over ourselves, starting from the furthest point to the main entrance.

There will be some noise from the machines we use. We ask customers not to walk on any area we are cleaning until we have completed and fully dried the area and are satisfied with our work.
